About Us Founded in 1945 by Don Hyde in his Petoskey garage, Hyde Equipment has evolved into a full service retailer and wholesale distributor of commercial equipment, products, and services. A 10,000 sq. ft. shop facility, a 5000 sq. ft. paint facility, and 25,000 sq. ft. of warehouse space provides an ideal setting for conducting sales of retail and wholesale commercial products and services. Located at 1688 McDougal Rd on C-81, and a second location of a sale and rental outlet on US 31 north in Petoskey, Hyde Equipment has served the needs of commercial snow-plow contractors, municipalities, and the construction related industry all over Michigan for over 50 years. Offering lines of summer related equipment rounds out the winter seasonal business with mowers, trimmers, generators, concrete saws, chain saws, small engine repairs, and tractor mounted mowers for MDOT and county road applications. Herb Bachelor, sole proprietor from 1977 to 1996, sold the business to Dean Bachelor, Beckie Rensel, and Scott Bachelor, his children, after his retirement. Scott and Beckie became co-owners in 2001. Scott Bachelor is currently the sole proprietor. With 28 Employees, Scott Bachelor is General Manager, Beckie Rensel is Office Manager, Bob Sneathen is Assistant General Manager, Dennis Skierra is Customer Service Manager, Steve Conrad is Shop Foreman, Nate Wickey is Hydraulic/Machine Shop Foreman, and Steve Pike is Paint Dept. Manager.
